1992 "Someday I'll Fly"

In 1992 I recorded and released a single entitled "Someday I'll Fly".  The song was inspired by a group of individuals I had been working with at the Lake County Society For Rehabilitation Of Children and Adults. I volunteered at the Society from 1989 - 1999, providing entertainment and organizing fundraising concerts and events for the adult group.  "Someday I'll Fly" was an inspirational song that addresses the need for all of us to look beyond the physical and mental challenges of others and to recognize and honor the person and not the disability.  On May 13, 1997 I received a plaque from the Society recognizing my contribution in organizing the 1996 Gone Country Concert, a very successful fundraiser for them.  In 2000 the Governor of Ohio's Youth Leadership Forum adopted my song as their theme song for that year's Special Olympics.  Donna and I were invited to Columbus to attend a special dinner for those involved in the Youth Leadership Forum that year.  We had the opportunity to meet Ted Kennedy Jr. who was the keynote speaker, and I was awarded a citation from the state of Ohio and Governor Bob Taft.
