I first met David Frizzell the younger brother of country music ledgend Lefty Frizzell in the fall of 86'.I was in Nashville for the Country Music Association awards show (CMA's).I was staying with my good friend Johnny Piascik who was playing drums for David at the time in his road band.David had several hit songs under his belt with his duet partner Shelly West the daughter of country music star Dottie West,but was persuing a solo career at the time we met.We hit it off from day one and over the next couple of weeks we hung out together nearly every day.By the time I left Nashville we had decided to work together on what would be my very first album.I had written a bunch of songs but had never recorded an entire album project,the result would be my album entitled"War Torn Years".On the plane ride to Nashville from Cleveland for the recording session I wrote one last minute song for the album called "Teach Me To Sing Like Lefty".It was my tribute to David's brother Lefty and David made a guest appearance on the song with me. The musicians on the album were Mike Loudermilk son of famous Nashville songwriter John D. Loudermilk (acoustic/electric guitar) John "JP" Piasick (drums) Terry Zimmerman (bass Guitar)Garland Craft (piano/strings).The background vocals were provided by Joyce Hawthorne and Keith Palmer.The album "War Torn Years" produced by my friend David Frizzell was recorded in Nashville in December of 86' and was released in the spring of 87'. Ashcamp Music has just made the album available once again after all these years in it's original 12" vinyl format as well as digital downloads.
