A few years ago I was watching a program on Sportstime Ohio with former Indian's player, Matt LaPorta who was visiting a place called Christianville in Haiti. The sole purpose of The Christianville Foundation is to provide a Christian witness to Haiti. This purpose is realized through evangelizing and Christian education along with humanitarian assistance. As you may already know, Haiti is one of the poorest nations on earth and is still struggling after the devastating earthquake in 2010. On the program Matt visited the schools where the children are being educated and cared for. I was so moved by what I saw there in Haiti that Donna and I decided to sponsor a child. For a small monthly donation we are able to help a family bridge the gap between what they can afford and the actual cost of the services provided. It helps with school books, uniforms, meals and general medical care, including eye and dental care. It is a wonderful organization, doing extraordinary work in one of the poorest places on earth. Since our involvement with Christianville, I have become a partner in spreading the word about the organization and the great work they do. I speak about Christianville at each of my performances now to encourage folks to get involved and sponsor a child.
